About the Job:
Senior Research Analysts are responsible for providing thorough, objective and timely research for use by Key Private Bank Portfolio Managers in the management of client portfolios. Senior Analysts are responsible for researching, examining and evaluating businesses and associated investment opportunities within an assigned industry and/or market segment.
Essential Job Functions:
Company Analysis;
· Serve as internal subject-matter expert on assigned sector(s) and companies
· Develop extensive knowledge of companies under coverage, as well their competitors, within assigned sector(s)
· Develop relationships with subject matter experts within assigned sector(s)
· Gather information on companies under coverage via surveys, meetings, and conversations with company representatives
· Create and maintain financial models of industries and companies under coverage
· Produce clear and concise written and oral reports based on independent analysis of industry and company specific data
· Monitor, assess, and communicate developments in the assigned sector(s) and in relationship to the capital markets, in general
Thought Leadership:
· Provide effective leadership and mentoring to sector team consisting of assigned KPB portfolio managers serving in a part-time research capacity
· Build and maintain strong relationship with KPB portfolio managers, serving as a source of value-added insight and supporting client-related activity
· Develop investment thesis and other proprietary information
· Perform independent research including, but not limited to, competitive analysis, customer utilization and product uses and limitations
· Develop investment thesis at the industry and company level to anticipate changes that will affect the values and prices of securities
· Communicate important/breaking news to KPB Investment management Team
· Communicate relevant information and insights based on proprietary research to KPB investment team in order to drive activity in client portfolios to maximize risk-adjusted rates of return
Required Qualifications:
· M.B.A. or equivalent professional work experience
· CFA preferred
· Proven superior accounting, finance and quantitative skills, usually acquired through 10+ years experience in research/analytical role
· Excellent modeling, forecasting, analysis and evaluation experience
· Strong business writing skills
· Ability to work independently to produce accurate, detailed materials while meeting tight deadlines
