Monticello Associates, Inc. is looking for a full-time Research Analyst with industry experience in investment management to perform investment manager due diligence, provide ongoing support for investment consultants, generate intra-period performance reporting, and handle ad hoc client requests. This position is based in our Cleveland office. 

Firm Description

Monticello Associates, Inc. is an investment consulting firm which serves institutional and high net worth clients in an investment advisory capacity.  The firm is headquartered in Denver, Colorado with an additional office in Cleveland, Ohio.  Our firm provides clients with manager due diligence and selection, asset allocation studies and strategy recommendations, performance reporting, and all other necessary functions required to support clients in their role as fiduciaries. 

 

The position requires meeting with investment managers and generating research reports, updating manager notes on a quarterly basis, conducting asset allocation studies when needed, and executing ad hoc projects at the request of clients.  As a Research Analyst, you will apply strong knowledge of modern portfolio theory to analyze long-only and alternative investments within the context of a client’s portfolio. You will interact with fund managers and clients, representing the company in a highly professional manner. You will also lead and complete diverse projects under strict deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.


Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an analyst in the financial services sector, preferably at an investment management firm
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, preferably with a major in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA preferred
  • Required: Minimum of Level 3 Candidate for the CFA exam, CFA charter preferred

 

Essential Skills:

  • Strong analytical problem-solving and data analysis skills, with attention to detail
  • Strong writing skills and understanding of capital markets and investments
  • Highly motivated self-starter with ability to lead and work independently
  • Experience in client facing consulting engagements a plus
  • Prior experience with Bloomberg, Morningstar, eVestment, and Wilshire a plus
